Gathering Place

One of the unique features of the Hall House and Gardens is the option to host your friends and family for an event of your choosing during your stay.  The house sleeps 6-8 comfortably and boasts a formal dining room, living room, warming kitchen, grand staircase, two lovely sun porches and three bedrooms all restored to their original glory from 1912.  We are currently finalizing our prohibition style speakeasy for those who enjoy an apothecary cocktail and a cigar by the fire.

HH&G offers whole house rental or individual room bookings for overnight guests. As a guest of our home, you will have the luxury of retiring to one of our three bedrooms at the end of your day. We also have a sleeper sofa on the sunporch downstairs.  If you have opted to entertain during your stay, this feature allows for a relaxed conclusion to your gathering and a restful night in our plush beds.  As an added safety measure, due to COVID, we book exclusively to one family or group at a time.  You must be 25 years of age or older to reserve a room.  Smoking is permitted in the garden only.  Cleaning fees vary depending on rental option selected for your stay.

Due to the historic nature of 

this home, 

it is not suitable for young children.

John T. Williams, Jr., lifetime resident of Albemarle and general manager of HH&G, has over 30 years of experience in renovating historic homes, event planning, directing, space design and decorating.  He, along with David and Brenda Scarboro, masterfully restored this home with a nod to the Hall family's exciting history.  John's longevity in the community, hospitality industry and now Stanly County's newest real estate agent with Larry McGuire Realty, make him the perfect choice to help you plan your customized stay or event.

Individual Room Bookings

See our newly redecorated rooms below.  Each room offers a glimpse in to the past with art work, memorabilia, original photographs and letters from members of the Hall Family.  You may rent by the room or rent the entire home.  Package pricing for events is also available.

 The Wayfarer Room

 This brightly colored, queen room pays homage to Evelyn Hall and features her 1931 world travels.  She was Dr. and Mrs. Hall's only daughter.  Her letters to her mother were recovered from the attic of the Hall House and detail her travels to Naples, Pompei, the Vatican and more.  They Indicate she kissed the Pope's ring and danced with Gary Cooper.  Upon request, you will have a chance to go through Evelyn's pictures and correspondence during your stay at HH&G.


The Apothecary Room

The Apothecary Room is named for Hall's Pharmacy.  Dr. Julius Clegg Hall started his business in 1906 in downtown Albemarle.  This king room is filled with memorabilia from the pharmacy including photographs, newspaper articles and a pulled canvas of a prescription written by 

Dr. Hall himself.  


The Pergola Room

Named for the gorgeous view of the garden and Pergola, this bedroom is our preferred bridal suite.  It is our largest room with a king size bed, sofa and fireplace.  


Whole House Rental includes all 3 bedrooms and our queen sleeper sofa for $600/night.  

Cleaning fees for whole house rental is $150 without a party. If only booking one room $50, two rooms $100. For parties exceeding 100 people, the fee is $200 to cover trash removal, porch and garden cleaning as well.


As a guest, you have the unique option to enjoy the space with additional friends or family.  If you choose to entertain during your stay, refer to the package pricing below.  Each package includes an overnight stay as you must be a guest to host an event inside the home.  


***Garden Parties are priced separately and do not require an overnight stay.  Fees are quoted based on guest count and hours needed for your event. There is a 3 hour minimum. one bathroom will be included for your guests and it is handicap accessible.

This package is for indoor events only.  It includes an overnight stay for two guests in one of our newly redecorated rooms plus one boutique event of 15-40 guests. 

You may add an extra room for $200/night.

Indoor use of 48 Chiavari chairs and 8 - 4' round tables inclu​ded.




This package includes one overnight stay for 4 guests and one event in the house OR garden of up to ​70 guests on the day of your arrival.

This package includes 2 overnight stays for 8 guests in 

the wayfarer, apothecary and pergola rooms, as well as, a queen size sofa bed located on the sunporch..

  This is a two event package for your rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony with reception to follow 

OR you may opt to have a "day after" brunch in place of the rehearsal dinner. one event may include up to 120 guests which is most suitable for the garden..


Your 2nd event may include up to 48 guests.  48 Chiavari chairs and 8 - 4' round tables are provided for this smaller event if held inside the home.


With this package, you will 

have full access to the house, garden and speakeasy.

Dr. Hall's garage has been converted in to a prohibition style speakeasy complete with a horseshoe bar from Quality Grocery previously on Montgomery Avenue and repurposed ceiling tiles from Hall's  Pharmacy.

Owners and Operators of HH&G

Mr. & Mrs. David and Brenda Scarboro began this historic 

renovation in 2017.  They envisioned this home being used for families and friends in our community. The Hall House & Gardens offers a craft experience  with Southern Hospitality as a Central feature.  Your stay will be customized based on your vision of your time in our home.  Mr. Scarboro serves as the Onsite Innkeeper and along with John Williams, will be available to you during your stay.

Anne Scarboro Brand, daughter of David and Brenda Scarboro, is carrying on her in her mother's place to provide Stanly County and the surrounding areas with an exciting alternative for accommodations and gatherings.
